MILLE LACS LAKE
Big Potential.
This is one of the biggest fisheries in Minnesota and it's also the closest to the Twin cities area.

Mille Lacs Lake is the second largest lake in Minnesota; with a whopping 132,000 acres, according to the MN DNR website.
​
The regulations change every year, but the one constant is that there are always big fish in this lake.
Castles Resort
We are happy to partner with Castles Resort for our fishing report on Mille Lacs. We want to share a handful of the highlights from their resort.

Castles Resort is just a short trip from the Twin Cities & offers breathtaking views of Father Hennepin State Park and Isle Bay. We know you’ll enjoy our rustic log cabins with up-north charm that will make you feel right at home. Castles Resort is only a short walk from Downtown Isle where you can find a bowling alley, grocery store, fun shops and great eateries.

Summer Accommodations
They have 7 cabins available for renting during the summer time. One really unique thing that they offer is the pontoon rentals for the weekends (with a discounted rate for those who are renting a cabin too). You can rent their pontoons for the day or the weekend and take the wheel into your own hands!
Another option that's unique to Castles Resort are the guided fishing trips that they offer. They're group charters basically, where they can take out a couple dozen folks at a time and set everyone up with rods. Guests are able to keep any fish they're legally able to. The coolest part is that it is on a 48-foot-long pontoon, and they even have a bathroom!!

The cabins at Castles Resort are for the folks who like to have a few more creature comforts available. They are beautifully furnished and come with fully equipped kitchens, DirecTV and DVD players. They have the basics included too, like the sheets for the beds and towels.

Closest to the Cities
We have a map below that shows where Castles Resort is located in comparison to the HUGE Mille Lacs Lake. You'll notice it's at the very southeastern corner of the lake, which is very close to the twin cities.
