LEECH LAKE
Worth the Drive.
It's over 110,000 acres. It used to be 6 separate lakes until the Army Core of Engineers put in the dam so that they could control the water levels for the log mill in Minneapolis. That was back in 1882, and a lot has changed since then.

These separate lakes conjoined as one, with incredible structure and deep pockets.

Horseshoe Bay Lodge
We are happy to partner with Horseshoe Bay Lodge for our fishing report on Leech Lake. We want to share a handful of the highlights from their resort.

One thing that really sets Horseshoe Bay apart from other resorts in the area is their capacity to take large groups. Of course, during ice fishing season there aren't too many huge events, but they are able to host large crowds. They are experienced with weddings, corporate get-togethers and family reunions, and they've got the space to host everyone.

They have also have a full restaurant and bar & a heated indoor pool & hot tub. They're open year round and offer a 40 acre get-away with a ton of different lodging options. Ranging from basic hotel-style rooms to full cabins.

Summer Accommodations
These guys have a unique set up where they have so many different types of lodging available,
the Iron Fire Bar & Grill at the resort and a private marina area. They have a private ice road in the winter too!

They have accommodations for all sorts of groups throughout the whole year. Check out their brochure map we've got pictured here, look closely to see that they have a large swimming beach and raft in the lake in addition to a heated pool & spa. Whirlpool & Fireplace Suites are available as well.

Known for once-in-a-lifetime fish.
This is one of our favorite lakes in Minnesota. It has potential to produce state record fish and boasts it's biggest Whitefish at 28 1/2 inches, and it weighed over 12 pounds!
The real showoff are the perch during late ice season. Daniel is mounting his 14.25 inch perch that he caught in March 2024!
